Free Sound Database Under Creative Commons Copyright

The Music Technology Group and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, have created The FreeSound Project, a collaborative database of sounds (not music) including audio snippets, samples, recordings, bleeps, in preparation for the upcoming International Computer Music Conference in Barcelona, Spain.

The FreeSound Project Launched In Prep for International Computer Music ConferenceThis should become an awesome resource for musicians and songwriters looking to enhance their recordings with interesting textures and atmospherics beyond the basic guitar-guitar-bass-drums arrangement.

All sounds on the site will be licensed under the Creative Commons Sampling Plus license. The site already has a collection of diverse sounds, offering sample packs, remixes and groovy waveform images of each sound.

Quite cool. Thanks to Mia Garlick at Creative Commons for the update.
