Acoustic Cover and Video for "Hey Ya" by Outkast
So, I can't decide whether to applaud this guy, or smack him upside the head. No, actually, I dig this "Hey Ya" cover, and fully appreciate the mashup with the actual Outkast video. It reminded me that I'd love to do an acoustic cover of either "Killing In The Name" or "Take the Power Back" by Rage Against the Machine some day. Seriously. (Thanks Mike!)
Update: A little detective work by Jay uncovered some info -- this guy's name is Mat Weddle, from the band Obadiah Parker. Guitar tab for the song can be found here.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I pressed "Play"...a Zach Galifianakis-looking mofo playing an acoustic cover of an OutKast song?!? Guess you can't judge a book by its cover after all, as that was really, really good. Better than Ray Lamontagne's cover of "Crazy," which is tough to do.
Oh, and I'm with ya on the acoustic Rage cover.

My thoughts exactly, I was definitely pleasantly surprised. I'd love to get an mp3 of the track, actually.
As for Rage...that's gotta happen. 3-5 songs are in the queue before it...but maybe I'll bump it up. It would be a blast.

"Killing in the name of" would be awesome.
Remember the cover of Snoop Dogg's Gin 'n Juice?

I do remember that cover of Gin 'n' Juice! The Gourds, right? I think that is a fantastic example of taking a well-known song and making it into something completely different. THAT is what covers are supposed to do.

A band called Dynamite Hack released a similar cover of "Boyz In Tha Hood" probably 7-8 years ago that is pretty stellar. Actually, the whole album is pretty good.

That's amazing. Brilliant song, played (and sung) brilliantly on acoustic guitar. Love it!
