PROMONET Offers Pre-Cleared Music, Videos, More

IODA-Launches-PROMONET.jpgThe Independent Online Distribution Alliance (IODA) launched Promonet today, a promotional distribution network providing “qualified” podcasters, bloggers, internet radio stations, and other music sites with thousands of pre-cleared music tracks, videos, artwork, and more, from over 750 independent labels. Qualification requires an application.

It’s a interesting move by IODA. Most music libraries offering promotional downloads include unsigned artists, mostly; IODA may become viewed as a “premium” source of “signed” music.

It will be interesting to see which bloggers and podcasters will be considered “qualified”. IODA will now compete for mindshare along with GarageBand, Creative Commons, the Podsafe Music Network, and many other music libraries.
